Museum Donates Rare Items to Hospital

The Durham Museum in Omaha is currently closed, but the hearts of the staff are wide open. When the museum found out local hospital staff was running out of personal protective equipment, the curatorial staff decided to make good of the gloves used when handling rare items and the N95 masks used when building new exhibits.

The Durham Museum, an Art Deco train station turned museum features life-like bronze statues that come alive with travel stories of people who once passed through the station. Designated as a National Historic Landmark, visitors can hop aboard President Harry S. Truman’s press train, and other restored train cars from the 1940s and 50s. A visit to the museum is not complete without a trip to the Durham’s original soda fountain for an old-fashioned phosphate or ice cream float.
